PRICING & PRACTICAL GUIDES
Check an Audiobook Pickup Delivery Before Opening the DAW
A delivery folder with 20 audio files does not necessarily fulfill 20 pickup requests. One request may have two takes while another has none. Reconcile by request identity before treating the round as complete.
Compare three groups
First list requested IDs with no returned file. Next list IDs with multiple candidate takes. Finally list files that do not map to a request. A fourth group, one file matched to one request, is ready for listening rather than automatically approved.
For example, requests 014, 015 and 016 may receive 014-take1, 016-take1 and 016-take2. Three files have arrived, but request 015 is still missing and 016 requires a take decision.
Preserve the review decision
Keep the selected filename, reviewer note and delivery round beside each request. If a new take arrives, reopen the decision instead of erasing the previous mapping. After listening, confirm the correction in the actual edited master using the normal production process. Folder completeness cannot establish that the master is fixed.
Use local copies for comparison and keep originals in your existing backup system. A manifest is an index, not an audio backup.
Do not recreate an integrated workflow unnecessarily
Pozotron's pickup recording tool already connects recording, comparison with original audio, stakeholder review and DAW export. That is a strong alternative for teams already working there.
The proposed SlateReturn page tests a narrower need for freelance editors receiving files from several independent collaborators. Its first version would have no speech recognition or editing automation. Validate the time saved on two real deliveries before adding another step.
