Make Box Slips From Packed Quantities, Not Ordered Quantities
A box slip should describe what is inside that box. Copying the full order onto each slip makes a partial shipment look complete and forces the recipient to reconstruct the missing balance.
Give each carton a stable label
Label cartons A, B and C or use your own persistent box IDs. Record each garment variant and quantity inside a carton. If items move between boxes, update both records before printing. A total-only slip is insufficient when several styles or youth and adult size ranges share a job.
Show the remainder separately
For an order of 10 navy adult large shirts, packing six in A and three in B leaves one unresolved. Print six on A's slip and three on B's. Keep one on the job's shortage sheet. Record any customer-approved change to the order separately; do not quietly mark the missing garment as delivered.
If two people are packing, assign separate boxes and agree who reconciles the final tally. A local worksheet is best suited to one active operator unless it explicitly supports shared editing.
Check the existing options first
Printavo's published plans list packing slips. Its Merch export documentation also describes spreadsheet exports. Your existing system may already cover the required workflow.
The planned PackTally interest page explores a standalone CSV-to-box reconciliation process. It would not send shipment messages or purchase carrier labels. Before adopting any tool, time one real packing job and include import, counting, corrections and printing in the comparison.
